October 5, 2009

Over the past few weeks, we have received some rain here in Brazoria County. This rainfall and the rain we received over this past weekend have replenished the moisture in the soil to the extent that the Burn Ban is no longer needed. Judge King has lifted the Burn Ban for Brazoria County.

If you want to do some outdoor burning, please use caution and keep a watchful eye on your burning. If you have huge piles of limbs and leaves to burn, you must ask for permission from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to burn. The number to call is 713-767-3714. Under TCEQ rules you can’t burn any building materials, old furniture, junk, chemicals, or other refuse that is not vegetation.

Please keep a vigilant eye on your burning when you burn. We still have an abundance of fuel and that poses a threat to homes and out buildings.
