Mission Statement
The Purchasing Department of Brazoria County was established October
of 1999, based on Commissioner’s Court decision to have a centralized
Purchasing Department. Since that time, the Purchasing
Department has established policies and procedures for the procurement
of goods and services for the County in accordance procurement laws of the
State of Texas. The Purchasing
Department is comprised of two sections, the Buying Section and the
Contracts Section. These two sections work together with county
departments to ensure the most economical, proper, and responsive
purchase of all materials and equipment used by the County.
The Purchasing Department also provides responsible bidders a fair and
equal opportunity to compete for County business. This is accomplished
by complying with statutory requirements and the County’s purchasing
policies and procedures.
In addition, the Purchasing Department works in concert with the
County Auditor as a part of a system of checks and balances to ensure
the proper expenditure of taxpayer dollars.
