ACCOUNT OPENED TO HELP

REPLACE MEMORIAL

A heavy bronze memorial for fallen Brazoria County soldier Philip Cody Ford was stolen from his gravesite at the Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek sometime between January 14th and January 17th.  The homemade memorial resembled the fallen soldier statue offered to servicemen and women killed in combat.  Cody was killed in action on December 10, 2006, when the vehicle he was in drove over an explosive device in Baghdad.

The family used a pair of Ford’s combat boots and his assault rifle propped upright between them.  A helmet topped the rifle and the memorial was bronzed.  Cody’s dog tags were also part of the statue.

The family has had to deal with a terrible tragedy with losing Cody and now having the memorial stolen is hard to take in.

Brazoria County and surrounding communities have come together to help the family with replacing the memorial statue.  There has been an account set up to accept donations if anyone would like to help.

To donate, visit any Brazoria County branch of Texas Gulf Bank.  Tell the clerks that you would like to make a donation to the Philip Cody Ford Special Benefit Fund and they will take care of it for you.
